2-22 - Comstock 32 - Decatur 38
To finish out the season, the Colts went on the road to face the Raiders. Despite a slow start offensively, Brayden Huizar kept the Colts within reach, by scoring 7 of the team's 9 points in the first quarter. The Colts seemed to be unable to get their offensive flow going due to Decatur's zone defense, as the score was 17-28 heading into the fourth quarter. Ali'jah Ballard scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter, giving his team a chance to win. However, the Colts fell short, losing 32-38. The Colts finished their season with a 12-10 record!
2-20 - Comstock 47 - Marcellus 42
In their second to last game of the season, the Colts took a trip to Marcellus. The game was close until the end, as Marcellis was up by four heading into the 4th quarter. Elijah Patterson led the comeback, scoring all 7 of his points in the 4th quarter. Through a combination of clutch free-throws and huge defensive stops, the Colts came out with the win, 47-42. Kedan Duff had 19 points and Zyrell Yarber had 15 points.
2-16 - Comstock 38 - Centreville 42
The Colts hosted the Bulldogs of Centreville for their last home game of the season. Comstock struggled to score the ball in the first half, as the score was 11-18 in favor of Centreville. After a big 3rd quarter, led by Zyrell Yarber who had 11 of his game-high 17 points in the second half. However, after a great 4th quarter performance by the Bulldogs, the Colts lost 38-42. Ali'jah Ballard scored 10 points.
2-13 - Comstock 66 - Bangor 45
Comstock faced Bangor for the second time this season. The Colts scored 21 points in the first quarter and did not look back. As they scored a season high team total of 66 points. The Colts ended up winning 66 - 45. The leading scorers of the game were Kedan Duff with 22, Ali'jah Ballard with 15, and Wyatt Wilkins with 7.
2-9 - Comstock 45 - Cassopolis 48
After a tough loss in their first matchup, the Colts looked to redeem themselves against the Rangers. At the half, Comstock led by nine points. The Rangers battled back in the third quarter, as Comstock found themselves in early foul trouble; and quickly found themselves down by eight going into the fourth quarter. Kedan Duff led the comeback by scoring 6 of his team's high 15 points in the fourth quarter. Brayden Huizar hit a three to tie the game late, and Wyatt Wilkins had an And-1 layup for the lead. However, the Rangers had an And-1 themselves a possession later, and ended up winning the game, the Colts lost 45-48. Brayden Huizar and Wyatt Wilkins both finished with 9 points.
2-6 - Comstock 34 - White Pigeon 51
At home, the Comstock Colts took on the White Pigeon Chiefs. The Colts struggled on the offensive most of the night, however their defensive effort kept them in it as the Chiefs only led by eight at the half. Missed shots was the story of the Colts night, as the Chiefs pulled away for the rest of the game. Comstock ended up losing 34-51. Ali'jah Ballard led the team in scoring with 14 points and Brayden Huizar had 6 points.
2-2 - Comstock 50 - Bloomingdale 33
After an early season loss to Bloomingdale earlier this year, the Colts were ready to compete. Wyatt Wilkins set the tone early, having all 8 of the Colts 1st quarter points, and finished with 14 points. Ali'jah Ballard followed suit, hitting three 3-pointers in the 2nd quarter, and finished with a game high of 18 points (by six made three pointers). After allowing Bloomingdale to only score four points in the 3rd quarter, the Colts came away with a comfortable win, 50-33. Another leading scorer was Brayden Huizar with 11 points.
1-30 - Comstock 50 - Lawrence 26
After a heartbreaking loss the following week, the Colts had their sights on a win against the Lawrence Tigers. Ultimately, a great team effort took place all game long. As the Colts held the Tigers to only 12 points in the first half and were able to pull away quickly. The Colts ended up winning 50 - 26. Ali'jah Ballard led all scorers with 14, Zyrell Yarber had 11, and Brayden Huizar had 8.
1-29 - Comstock 40 - Cassopolis 43
The Colts matched up against the Rangers of Cassopolis for the first time this year. From the jump, the game went back and forth, with neither team being able to pull away. By halftime, Bradley Tucker made three 3-pointers, and did not slow down as he finished with a game high of 17 points. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Comstock trailed by 4 points. Due to a great defensive effort by D.J Rankins and Wyatt Wilkins, the Colts were able to have a chance to win it at the end. However, after a final heave was left short, the Colts lost 40 - 43.
1-26 - Comstock 45 - Hartford 39
After a few home games, the Colts got back on the road to face Hartford, for the second time this year. They expereience foul trouble right away, however many players stepped up to fill crucial minutes. Bradley Tucker could not miss to start the game, as he had 11 of his 17 points in the 1st quarter. Zyrell Yarber matched, by scoring 17 himself, with 5 made threes. Ali'jah Ballard had a solid defensive game while scoring 6 points. The Colts are now 8-5! Final Score 45 - 39.
1-23 - Comstock 52 - Maple Valley 38
The Maple Valley Lions came to town and the Colts were ready. Through solid guard play they were able to limit turnovers, and through tough interior defense the forwards (Wyatt Wilkins, Donovan Rankins Jr., Micheal Seybert, and Landen Brown) controlled the glass. Comstock crusied all game long, and connected on 10 three-pointers! Keedan Duff lead all scorers, once again, with 16 points. Other scorers included Bradley Tucker with 9, Eli'jah Patterson with 7, and Zyrell Yarber with 6 points. Final Score 52 - 38.
1-18 - Comstock 34 - Decatur 22
The Colts came out on fire against the Decatur Raiders. Lead by captain, Ali'jah Ballard, who had 11 of his 13 points in the 1st Half. Despite only scoring 15 points as a team in the 2nd half, Comstock was able to come out on top. The final score was 34 - 22. Keedan Duff lead all scorers with 14 points. The team improves to 6-5, and are over .500 for the first time all season! Final Score 34 - 22.
1-16 - Comstock 58 - Marcellus 52
Despite having a snow day, the Colts came out hot against the Wildcats of Marcellus. As they tallied a total of 13 made three-pointers as a team. 11 of Bradley Tucker's game high of 13 points came within the 2nd quarter. Costly turnovers and foul trouble allowed Marcellus to remain close. However, a big steal from Keedan Duff and four made free-throws by Zyrell Yarber was the difference. Some other leading scorers for Comstock included Micheal Seybert with 11, Braiden Huizar with 10, and Landen Brown with 5. Final Score 58 - 52.
1-12 - Comstock 44 - Centreville 49
To take on their 3rd game of the week, the Colts took a trip down to Centreville High School. Comstock came out playing great defense, holding a solid Centreville team to only 8 points in the first quarter. At the start of the 4th quarter, the Colts were able to go on a run, however it was followed by a run of Centreville's own. Comstock missed four free throws at the end to put the game away, and the Bulldogs took advantage by hitting two late threes to tie the game at 39. In overtime, neither team cooled off, going back and forth, however the Colts lost 44 - 49. Ali'jah Ballard lead the team in scoring with 15, by making 5 three-pointers. Keedan Duff scored 10, and D.J Rankins and Bradley Tucker both scored 6.
1-10 - Comstock 20 - Allegan 42
About 24 hours after the previous game, the Colts traveled to Allegan High School. Early on, the Colts failed to handle Allegan's on-ball pressure defense which caused many turnovers. Yet, Comstock only trailed by 8 points at the half. Allegan stayed in a full-court press which helped them increase their lead, as the Colts lost 20 - 42. Micheal Seybert led the team defensively and on the glass, while finishing with 4 points. The Colts look to bounce-back tomorrow against a tough Centreville team.
1-9 - Comstock 40 - Bangor 32
Coming off Christmas Break, the Colts opened up with Bangor High School. A great team effort was put forth from the jump, as seven out of Comstock's ten players were able to post points on the board. The Colts were able to force many turnovers and took advantage of so in the fast break. Keedan Duff led all scorers with 11, while both Zyrelle Yarber and Ali'jah Ballard had 8. Despite a late comeback from Bangor, the Colts held on to win 40-32.
12-19 - Comstock 44 - White Pigeon 39
The Colts are sitting at 2-3 on the season and looking to get back to .500 against the Chiefs of White Pidgeon High School. Off the bench, Braiden Huizar sparked the offense by getting to the free throw line and ended up finishing with 6 points. Keedan Duff hit two - three pointers in the 2nd quarter, yet the Colts still trailed by four at the half. Bradley Tucker came out determined to win and had 11 of his 14 points in the 3rd quarter. Keedan Duff took care of the ball at the end and lead all scorers with 17 points on the night. The Colts are now 3-3.
12-15 - Comstock 51 - Bloomingdale 55
To start the triple-header on Friday night at Bloomindale High School, the Junior Varsity Boys were down nine at the half. They came out of the half firing on all cylinders and were able to tie up the score going into the 4th quarter, 40 to 40. Despite a season high scoring performance of 23 points from Bradley Tucker, who hit a total of 7 three pointers, the Colts lost 51-56. Keedan Duff put forth a great effort as well, scoring 13 points. Foul trouble seemed to be the story of the game, as Bloomingdale made 10 free throws in the 2nd Half.
12-12 - Comstock 47 - Lawrence 33
The Colts came out slow to start the game and were down by two at the end of the 1st quarter. That quickly changed as Comstock came out pressing Lawrence full court, causing many turnovers. They were able to hold Lawrence to only 5 points scored in the 2nd quarter, which is the result of a great team effort! Bradley Tucker led the team in scoring with 13, and Ali'jah Ballard was not too far behind by scoring 12. Comstock won 47-33 and are now 2-2 on the season!
12-8 - Comstock 47 - Hartford 30
J.V. Boys Basketball came out on top vs. the Hartford Rams on Friday night! Bradley Tucker continued his hot streak by scoring 11 of the team's 12 points in the first quarter. The Colts did not look back, as they were able to keep the lead for the duration of the game. D.J Rankins controlled the interior as he altered many shots and collected numerous rebounds. A total of eight different Colts were able to score, ultimately creating a great team effort! Final Score: Comstock 47 - Hartford 30.
12-1 - Comstock 26 - Galesburg-Augusta 55
In the second game of the season, the Colts faced the Rams of Galesburg - Augusta High School. Both teams attempted to press to start the game, and the Rams got the better end of the deal forcing many turnovers. Bradley Tucker carried his scoring momentum from the previous game into this one, leading all scorers with 17 points , with five made three - pointers. Micheal Seybert and Wyatt Wilkins tired their best to grab as many rebounds as they could, however it was not enough as the Colts lost, 26-55.
11-28 - Comstock 35 - Hackett 61
To kickstart the 2023-2024 season, the Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team took a trip across town to face Hackett Catholic Prep. Despite a slow start offensively, Braiden Huizar was able to jumpstart the offensive by scoring the team's first 5 points. At the half, Hackett led 28 - 14. Late in the 3rd quarter, Bradley Tucker was able to hit a 3 - pointer off an inbounds pass to cut into Hackett's lead. Elijah Patterson collected a few steals in the 4th quarter, however the Colts lost 35 - 61. Ali'jah Ballard lead the team in scoring with 8 points.
