Mrs. Skalski graduated from Western Michigan University in 2010 where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with minors in Integrated Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts. Her previous teaching experience includes teaching 4th and 5th grade for 5 years at a charter school in Kalamazoo. She has always been an active liaison between school and community through the following roles and organizations: Girls on the Run site liaison, Global Reading Challenge, and Destination Imagination. Since joining the Comstock STEM Academy team in 2016, Mrs. Skalski has taken the role of Lead Teacher for Comstock’s Science Olympiad Team. Along with a great support system of parent and community volunteers, we hope to give our Science Olympiad team members a learning experience that is challenging with elements of fun.

Mrs. Skalski has always enjoyed learning about and teaching the sciences. She especially enjoys teaching the transitional year of 5th graders as they gain more independence and responsibility. She is passionate about teaching and believes that all children have the potential to gain new knowledge. Her mission is to inspire the youth through modeling and experiences to ensure they are positive, contributing citizens in their community.
