Chris Coash grew up in Southwest Michigan, eventually earning a bachelor's degree at Western Michigan University in 1996.  He spent two years working in alternative education in VanBuren county before  coming to Comstock.  Chris teaches English and also works in the Odysseyware online learning lab.  He serves as the building School Improvement Chairperson and the English department chair.

Chris has received grants from Best Buy, Jordan Fundamentals, and the Comstock Community Foundation.  These grants helped him create a Film as Literature class, organize and provide materials for a student/staff Book Club, and a project-based, music focused class called Rhythm & Rhyme.   He has served in leadership roles annually. Chris has been involved in school improvement activities from leading book studies, to serving as a mentor for new teachers or training interns from WMU and GVSU, to training in The Coalition of Essential Schools.  He attends The Michigan Reading Association each year to stay sharp and keep up with the latest and greatest materials and methodology.

Chris has spent time on local stages, including a role in Kiss Me, Kate several years ago on the Comstock Community Auditorium stage, several productions at Kalamazoo's New Vic Theatre, and at the Kalamazoo New Year's Fest as both a DJ in Bronson Park, and  as a perfomer in the four part harmony group: Four Guys Without A Name.  He also has been a member of several local bands in the last twenty years.  Music and movies fuel his primary passions and hobbies while away from Compass High School.
