Mr. Ide began teaching for Comstock in 2017 and has been teaching at the secondary and college level for 20+ years. He is certified in, and has taught, History (US and World), Social Studies (ex. Economics, Sociology, Psychology, etc.), Political Science (Government), and English (American Literature, Creative Writing, Novels, and other English classes).

Mr. Ide graduated from WMU for his Bachelor’s degree. He has also earned a Masters in Literature and an MFA in Creative Writing from WMU, and is working on a Master’s in Special Education at Western as well. Mr. Ide is also working on writing his dissertation to finish a PhD at MSU in Literacy, English Education, Children’s Literature, and Digital Humanities.

Mr. Ide lives in Kalamazoo with his wife of 30 years and their two daughters. The oldest is a freshman at Grand Valley State University this year. The youngest is a sophomore at Loy Norrix. When he has free time, Mr. Ide likes to read, spend time with his family, travel, write, and trying to build various things in the garage (Harry Potter wands and other small projects). Someday, he hopes to figure out what he would like to do when he grows up.
